Dave Leak found his passion
for fishing at the young age of 9, living in Southern California. It
all began with chasing largemouth bass and bluegill on small, local ponds
and lakes on conventional gear. It was not long after that when dad got
him
his first fly rod at the age of 12, and he took his first trip to
the Eastern Sierra. In the years to come his passion for the mountains, and
the trout that live there, became an addiction.
Dave joined the team
at The Trout Fly in the fall of 2004, and attended The Guide School at Clearwater
House on Hat Creek in the spring of 2005. After 15 years of fly fishing the Eastern
Sierra, and a summer of "shadowing" the master guides in the group,
Dave felt it was time to join the guide staff and follow his dream as a fishing
guide.
When Dave is not doing his 30 to 40 hors a week in the shop helping fellow fisherman
fine tune thier techniques, he is on the water doing what he loves most, Flyfishing.
You can usually find him float tubing on Crowley chasing monster trout, or exploring
the many alpine lakes which hold the elusive wild trout of the Eastern Sierra.
When it comes to moving water, exploring the rivers and streams from Bishop to
Bridgeport keep him busy the rest of his free time. Basically you could say Dave's
life revolves around fly fishing and everything the Eastern Sierra has to offer.

Nathan Wray started ocean fishing at the ripe old
age of eight, and started making annual summer trips to the Eastern Sierra
to fish about that same time. After attending college in the mountains
of northern California, (actually doing more fishing than studying he
admits), he once again found the unrivaled fishing this area has to offer.
Nathan has now lived in Mammoth for nine years and is constantly fishing
the area as well as hiking the backcountry in search of giant, and ever
elusive, High Sierra golden trout. He is known as the shop’s backcountry
guiding specialist.
Nathan has been with the shop longer than any other store employee and
was promoted to shop manager this year.If you are already a Trout Fly customer,
he has probably put you on some great fishing with fly recommendations
plus that good ol’ local knowledge . Now with the guiding, he says
he is living his life long dream.
